Windows 10, while free, featured some disturbing features, such as spying on users for their privacy. Some other features like bandwidth sharing, Wi-Fi consume your bandwidth data and your peace of mind. Now, clearly Microsoft is following the big internet giants like Facebook, Google, etc., by behaving this way. But you always have the option to disable these things. The only unethical thing about MS is that these things are enabled by default in Windows 10. Let's see what they are and how to disable them on your PC.
1) Disable peer-to-peer updates
To disable bandwidth sharing for Windows 10 updates, follow these steps.
Step 1 - Press key Windows + i to open the system.
Step 2 - Click on upgrade and security
3 pass - Now on the next screen click click Advanced Options. (To deactivate the car uo)
4 pass - In the following windows click on Choose how the updates are delivered
5 pass - Disable the setting as shown below.
Disable Windows automatic updates
Step 1 - Press key Windows + i to open the settings.
Step 2 - Click Update & Security
3 pass - Click on Advanced options
4 pass - To select Notification to schedule restart as shown in the screenshot below.
Disable the "Meet him" function
Step 1 - Press key Windows + i to open the system
Step 2 - Click on Privacy
Turn everything off
3 pass - Especially in the left menu, click speak, ink and type. Now, click stop meeting me.
Disable this setting.
Disable ad identification and ad targeting
Step 1 - Click on Privacy.
Step 2 - In the general tab of the left menu, disable allow the app to use my ad ID As shown below.
Disable apps that access your location, camera, and microphone
Click on Location in the left menu, now turn off location to disable the app, use your location.
-> Please note that if you don't want to disable location completely (as some Windows apps like Maps need to work) at least disable useless apps that access your location.
-> Now, click on the camera in the left menu and disable the app access to the camera, which you don't want. For example, if you use Skype, it is better to allow access to the Skype camera. If you use Facebook on the Edge browser, leave it on too.
-> Now, click on Microphone and disable app access to microphone for unnecessary apps.
Disable unwanted apps running in the background
Now scroll down and click on Background apps and disable PUAs running in the background.
