Recently, many users have reported seeing a program on their desktop, usually when they leave their PC / machine idle.
I decided to investigate this problem on my own and also found it in my copy of Windows.
The program is said to be a bug, specific to several internal versions of Windows, but sadly, from what I have discovered, this is not the case.
Disksnapshot.exe does not appear to be contained in specific versions of Windows, nor does it appear to interfere with users' work. Only users have seen it active, once they start using their machine after a period of inactivity.
What Is DiskSnapshot.exe?
As far as available information is concerned, DiskSnapshot.exe is a non-intrusive Microsoft native program designed to check and maintain the integrity of hard disks. The program is specifically designed to run and check the status of the hard drive when the PC has been idle for a while and is designed to shut down and shut down as soon as the user resumes their work.
This information as such turns out to be true in my opinion and that of many other users. The program starts while the PC is idle and shuts down, even with the slightest movement of the mouse or a click of the keyboard.
Is it harmful? Does this invade my privacy?
You must be sure that this program does not invade your privacy in any way, nor does it store any personal data or any other type of personal information. The utility supports your PC a lot and is designed to maintain your health and perform regular background scans when your PC is idle. It does not affect the performance of the machine in any way, nor does it interfere with the workflow. You can sit back, relax, and let the instrument do the job it was designed for.
Should I / can I remove the program from my PC?
I highly recommend not doing this, as the program is an integral part of the Windows 10 operating system. You can run an entire PC anti-malware scan if you are concerned about the authenticity of the file. To perform specific analyzes, the file is located in:
C: Windows System32
The file must always remain in the designed location and must not be moved or deleted.
