
Is the keyboard typing the wrong characters on your Windows 10 computer? If you are facing this problem on your computer, it is possible that the keyboard itself has gone out of order. Try these initial workarounds on your computer and if they don't work then just pick the top solutions.
Initial workarounds-
1. Disconnect the keyboard. Wait for a while. Again, plug the keyboard into another USB port on your computer. Check if it works.
2. Test the keyboard with any other computer / laptop to see if it works.
If the keyboard works fine with other laptops or PCs, you need to fix the problem by following these fixes-
NOTE: -
For all solutions, when we will use "On-screen keyboard". To open it follow these steps-
a. Click on the Windows icon.
b. Now scroll through the list of apps and click on "Ease of access to Windows“To expand it.
c. Then, click the "On-screen keyboard“To open it.
Fix-1 Change registry-
Edit the keyboard registry to resolve this problem.
You have to fix this from Registry Editor.
1. Click Search Box and then type “regedit” using the on-screen keyboard.
2. Now, click on “Registry Editor“From the search results to open it on your computer.
NOTE: -
You will need to back up the registry. After opening the Registry Editor, click on "Fillet">"Export“To create the backup.
If something goes wrong, you can recover the log by simply importing the backup.
3. In the Registry Editor window, on the left side, go to this location-
ComputerHKEY_USERS.DEFAULTKeyboard LayoutPreload
4. On the right side, double click over it "1“To change it.
5. In the Edit String window, change the language value you want on the keyboard (just copy the value from the left side of the table below according to the language and paste it in the Edit Window String).
6. Click on 'ok".

Now close the Registry Editor window.
Restart your computer.
After restarting the computer, the keyboard will work perfectly.
Fix- 2 Uninstall and reinstall the keyboard
Uninstalling and reinstalling the keyboard software will fix this problem.
1. Press Windows key + X and then click "Device Manager“To open it.
2. In the Device Manager window, expand "Keyboards".
3. Now, right click on “HID keypad device"And then click"Uninstall device".
4. Finally, to uninstall the keyboard driver, click "Uninstall".

Now, restart your computer and the driver will be reinstalled on your computer.
Fix- 3 Run the keyboard troubleshooter
1. You can access the settings file by pressing the Windows key and the I keys together.
2. Now, click on “Update and security".
3. On the left side, click "Troubleshoot".
4. Now, on the right side, click on “Additional troubleshooting tools".
5. Now, in the right pane of the settings file select the "Keyboard"Troubleshooting.
6. Now, click on “Run the troubleshooter“To start the troubleshooting process.
Follow the on-screen instructions in the Troubleshooting window.
The troubleshooter will find any problems with the keyboard misspelled character problem and attempt to fix the problem.
Restart your computer and check.
