2. Add the legacy hardware option to install the hardware
This method should only be done if Sound, video and game controllers o High Definition Audio / Realtek High Definition Audio Device it is not present in Device Manager.
Step 1. Right-click the Start menu button and select Device administrator.
Step 2. Go to the drop-down menu Action menu and select Add legacy hardware. If you click Action, only the guide is displayed. click on an empty space inside and then click the action again.
Step 3. The last step will open a pop-up window. Click here The next in the first screen.
Step 4. Please select Find and install hardware automatically (recommended)and click The next.
Follow the rest of the on-screen instructions. Once the process is complete, you will find the Realtek audio device in the Device Manager. Check if this has solved the problem for you. If not, follow the next method.
Method 1: Confirm that this is a driver problem
Before starting with the methods to fix the problem, you need to make sure that the driver is causing the problem. Because? Because you may get the driver error message, but there may still be some other problem. We will come back to this later in the methods. First, we will check if it is the driver problem or not.
Step 1. Right-click the Start menu button and select Device administrator.
Step 2. Here, expand Sound, video and game controllers.
Step 3. Under Sound, video and game controllers you will find High definition audio device o Realtek High Definition Audio. Here you need to make sure there is a yellow exclamation point or question mark on your icon. If there is, it means it is a driver problem.
Final report: Yup Sound, video and game controllers o High Definition Audio / Realtek High Definition Audio Device is missing in Device Manager, you can do method 2 to fix it.
Since you have made sure that it is a driver problem, you can now move on to the third method where we will try to fix the problem. Skip method 2.
3. Update the drivers
In this method, we will try to fix the problem by updating the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver. The driver may be outdated or damaged, which may have caused the problem. Follow the steps mentioned below to perform this method.
There are two ways to do this method.
1 method - automatically
Step 1. Right-click the Start menu button and select Device administrator.
Step 2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers and right click on High definition audio device o Realtek High Definition Audio. Please select Update Driver.
Step 3. Now select Automatically searches for updated driver software.
After performing the last step, the computer will try to search the Internet for the latest driver. It will download and install them automatically. After the update process is complete, you need to restart your computer.
2 method - manually
To manually update the driver, you will need to download the driver update from the Internet.
Step 1. Go to Realtek's website.
Step 2. Here, check the box next to I accept the aboveand click The next.
Step 3. Now, you will need to select the correct driver according to your Windows OS. Click on Recognize in front of the version description to download the driver update.
Final report: If you are unsure whether your Windows OS is 32-bit or 64-bit,
Go to Cortana, type Di and press Enter. Check the System type.
Step 4. When the executable driver update file has been downloaded, double-click it and follow the on-screen instructions to install the driver.
Step 5. When the update process is complete, Restart your computer.
This should fix the problem. However, if you still have the same problem then follow the method below.
4. Remove the controller
In this method, we will allow Windows to handle the problem. We will remove the device and Windows will automatically install it, along with its driver.
Step 1. Right-click the Start menu button and select Device administrator.
Step 2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers and right click on High definition audio device o Realtek High Definition Audio. Please select Uninstall device.
Step 3. Restart your computer.
When the computer restarts, Windows will automatically detect the audio hardware as new hardware. Then it will install it automatically. When you are done, you can update your driver using Method 3.
This should fix the problem. If the problem persists, follow the method below.
5. Disable audio enhancements
In this method, we will try to fix the problem by disabling the audio enhancements. Follow the steps to perform the method.
Step 1. Go to Cortana and type Sound. Select the same from the results.
Step 2. Under the Playback tab, you will see the connected audio devices. Click on default device to select it and then select Property.
Step 3. Go to Updates tab and check the box next to it Turn off all sound effects. Don't click ok and don't close the pop-up window.
Step 4. To check if this solved the problem, play background music. If it works, click ok. If that doesn't work, click Cancel.
Step 5. Go back to step 2 and repeat the steps in another default device (if you have more than one).
This should fix the driver problem. If the problem continues to cause problems, try the next method.
6. Volumes, cables and different audio formats
If none of the above methods worked, most likely it is not the driver that is causing the problem. Now you need to check the cables connecting the speakers to your computer. Make sure there are no cuts.
Additionally, many apps and speakers have their own volume controls. Review them and turn them all on.
Sometimes audio codecs don't support certain audio formats. If your computer isn't new, this could probably be the problem. Try different audio format files and see if the problem persists.
If you still can't hear any sound from the speakers, the speakers aren't working, or the audio codec hardware isn't working properly. Take your computer to the manufacturer's customer service center and ask them to fix it.
7. Alternative method
On your keyboard, press the Windows logo key and X (simultaneously) to get the quick access menu.
1 - Click Device Manager.

3 – Fare clic su Realtek Digital Output
4 - Click Driver, Update Driver
5 - Look for the driver software on my computer
6 - click Let me choose from the list
7-click on the generic software device.
