The “unmanaged system thread exception” is a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) error code. This happens due to corrupt, unsupported or outdated hardware drivers present in Windows. The file "atikmpag.sys" is the "system service exception" thrown by the error code. It causes a blue screen and turns off the computer.
In this article, we will follow some methods to fix the “Unhandled system thread exception” error message in Windows 10:
Method 1: use Device Manager
Uninstalling the “Video Drivers” with the help of the device manager and then installing their updated version will help us to correct this type of error. To do this, we need to follow a few steps:
Step 1:
Right click on the “Start” icon located in the lower left corner of the screen. Click on "Device Manager".
Step 2:
Double click on “Display adapters”. Right click on the video driver installed on your system and click “Properties”.
Step 3:
Click "Uninstall" to remove the driver software for the video card. Click "OK" to complete this step.
Step 4:
Install the latest version of your driver by downloading it from the hardware website. For example, say https://downloadcenter.intel.com/
Note: If updating the drivers causes BSOD, click “Roll Back Driver” to roll back the previously installed driver.
Method 2: using the "Display Driver Uninstaller" software
The “Display Driver Uninstaller” software helps to uninstall the hardware driver in safe mode. You can download and install from the following link http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
