- In the Device Administrator tab, expand Sound, video and game controllers by clicking on it.
- In the expanded list, find your Audio Manager, right-click on it and click Update Driver Software.
- A window appears as shown in the following figure. Click Automatically search for updated driver software and follow the on-screen instructions.
Method 2: change the default audio format
- Right-click the volume icon that appears in the system tray. A list of options appears on which you will need to click Playback devices.
- FOR Dreaming a window with four different tabs is displayed, namely Playback, Recording, Sounds, Y Communications. Click on the Playback tab. A list of playback devices is displayed. Your default playback device will be the one with a green check mark. Double click on it.
- Another window opens. Click on the Advanced tab.
- Click to view the menu in the Default Format section and select one (there is no specific one that can be mentioned because it differs from system to system)
- After selecting one, click the "test" button to see how perfect the sound is.
Method 3: reverse the headphone driver
In the first solution, you were asked to update the headphone driver. If updating the headphone driver does not fix the problem, you will have to try to roll back the driver software because sometimes it is the new software that is causing the problem and going back to the previous version of the software fixes the problem. In Windows 10, you can roll back a driver software by following these steps:
- Right-click the volume icon that appears in the system tray. A list of options appears on which you will need to click Playback devices.
- Now double click on Communication Headsets.
- A window with general extension tab is displayed. Click on Properties what you see under Controller Information.
- Another window will appear in which you will need to switch to the Drivers tab.
- Now click on Recoil Controller and follow the on-screen instructions.
Any of the methods mentioned above will likely fix the problem of unrecognized headphones.
