How to activate Chrome's built-in malware scanner

How to activate Chrome's built-in malware scanner. What you may not know is that Chrome on Windows has its own malware scanner. This is done periodically to clean junk in your browser, but you can actually run a scan right now to make sure everything is clean.

How to activate Chrome's built-in malware scanner

  • Click the button Menu a three dots in the top right corner of Chrome and choose Settings .
  • Scroll to the bottom of the list and click Advanced to show all options.
  • Keep scrolling down until you see the header Reset and cleaning at the bottom of the list. Click Clean your computer.
  • Inside is the option available Find and remove malicious software , which is Chrome's malware scanner. Click Find to perform a scan.

How to activate Chrome's built-in malware scanner




  • Once complete, Chrome will notify you if it finds anything malicious on your PC. If so, you can proceed with the removal.
  • Next time, you can quickly access this menu by entering chrome: // settings / cleanup in the address bar.

If you don't see this option, make sure you've updated Chrome by visiting Menu> Help> About Google Chrome .




Note that this is not a generic malware scanner. Check Chrome-related malicious software only. Therefore, it is still necessary to keep a reliable antivirus installed.
