If you use a particular program too often, you may want to start the program more easily. You can be able to open the program with just two clicks. In this article, we will show you how to include any program in the right click context menu. Therefore, whenever you need to use the program, you can easily do so by right-clicking on an item in File Explorer and then clicking on the program name.
How to add any program to the right click context menu
Follow these steps to add the desired program to the right-click context menu:
1. Click on the Windows icon and type "regedit".
2. Then press “Enter” from the keyboard to access the Registry Editor.
3. Now simply expand this position
ComputerHKEY_CLASSES_ROOT*shell
4. Then right-click on "seashell"And then click"New> " and then in "Key".
5. Give the key the name of the desired application in the contextual context menu (we called it “PainDotNet“).
6. Again, right-click on this new key (in our example, it's' PaintDotNet ') and then click'New>"And then in"Key".
7. Give the key the name "I send".
Minimize Registry Editor window.
8. Right-click the desktop icon and click "Property".
9. Go to “ShortcutEyelash ".
10. Next, copy the path indicated in the "Objective:" box.
Close Window File Browser.
11. In Registry Editor, click "PaintDotNet“In the left panel.
12. Also, you have to double-click the "(Default)"rope.
13. In the Edit String window, set the 'Value data:' file as the term you want to display in the right click context menu.
(For us it is - “Paint with Paint.Net.” Whenever we right-click on an item, “Paint it with Paint.Net 'will appear.)
14. Click on 'ok“To save the changes on your computer.
15. Now on the left side of the Registry Editor window, click on "I send".
16. On the right side, double click in "(Default)“To change it.
17. Set "Value data:" to " "Application location" "% 1" ".
For example, the value data will look like this: the location of 'Paint.Net “% 1”'. or in real words, it will be this -
"C:Program Filespaint.netPaintDotNet.exe" "%1"
18. Click on 'ok“To save the changes.
Close Registry Editor window.
That's all!
May need start again your computer to see the changes.
From now on, whenever you right-click an item in the File Browser window, the application identifier will appear in the context menu, like so:
OPTIONAL STEPS -
After performing the above steps on your computer, you will be able to access the shortcut option from the right click context menu. But it won't show the app icon. Follow the steps given below to edit the registry and get the .ico file.
1. Open the Registry Editor window.
2. Go to this location again -
Computer HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT * shell
3. Now, on the left side of the Registry Editor window, click on “PainDotNet".
4. On the right side, the right mouse button in "New>"And then click"String value".
5. Give the new string value the name "Icon".
6. Double click in "Icon".
7. In the Edit String window, set the 'Value data:' file as the application path.
8. Click on 'ok".
NOTE– For us, we copied and pasted this-
"C:Program Filespaint.netPaintDotNet.exe"
Close Registry Editor and restart your computer once. You should do it.
NOTE: -
The process we have explained here will place the desired application shortcut in the File Explorer context menu.
But there is a right-click context menu on the desktop where you can add an application shortcut, or you can remove items from the right-click context menu if it looks too clunky.
Steps to remove unnecessary items from right click context menu
1. Open Registry Editor on your computer.
2. Next, expand to this position:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT * shellexContextMenuHandlers
3. You will notice that there are several buttons under the "ContextMenuHandlers'section.
These are the application shortcut keys in the right-click context menu.
4. To disable some applications from the context menu, you need to select the specific button in the left window.
(Example - We want to delete "7 hinges“In the context menu of the right click. Therefore, we have selected “7-Zip” on the left side. )
5. After that, double click on him "(Default)“On the right side.
6. Now all you need to do to disable the link for the particular application is put a "-“In front of valuable data.
7. Click on 'ok".
Close the Registry Editor and refresh the desktop once. Now, right click and check if it works or not.
NOTE 1 -
If prefixing the value data with a “-” doesn't work, you might consider removing the key under the context controller header.
1. Start Registry Editor one more time.
2. Go to this point on the left side:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT * shellexContextMenuHandlers
3. Right-click on the particular application you want to delete and click "To remove".
If there are any warning messages, click "Yup".
This should do the trick.

It is entirely possible that there are some additional shortcuts in the right-click context menus that do not appear in the “ContextMenuHandlers” section.

Change the right-click context menu on the desktop
You can also add an application shortcut to the desktop context menu.
1. After opening the Registry Editor, go to this location:

3. Give the key the name of the desired application in the contextual context menu (we called it “PainDotNet“).
