If you work in an office environment, you may want to limit Internet access for your employees to a few but a few eligible websites, and the same is true for your children as well. You may want your kids to only access websites that you think are appropriate for their age and block the rest.
While for kids you can restrict all but a few websites using parental controls, there is another way as well. And this method is also useful for blocking selected websites for everyone, including employees. Let's see how to do it.
Solution: via Internet options
Step 1: Click Start on the desktop and type Control Panel in the search box. Click on the result.
Step 2: A Control Panel change window Seen from to Big icons and select Internet options.
Step 3: A Internet property window that opens, click Connections tab and then click LAN settings button.
4 phase: A LAN settings window below proxy server, check the box next to Use a proxy server for your LAN.
Step 5: Now in Talk to field below add proxy - 127.0.0.1 and set the Port field to 80. Then click Plastic button next to it.
Step 6: A Proxy settings window that appears, go to Exceptions section and below Do not use a proxy server for addresses starting with, add the websites you want to access. For example, here we add YouTube and Google so that you can only access these websites. Then type www.youtube.com and also youtube.com (without www) to make it work. Similarly, type www.Google.com and also Google.com ((without www). Which means you need to add the websites in both versions for this to work.
Also, separate web addresses with semicolons.
Click ok to save and exit.
You, your employees or your children can now only access the websites set in Exceptions and not the rest. For example, you will not be able to use any other website except Google.com and YouTube as shown above.
