How to change keyboard repeat rate and repeat delay in Windows 10: - Open any of the text editors, such as Notepad, on your Windows PC. Press and hold a key for a few seconds. You can see that after typing the first character, there is a delay before the second character appears. This delay is known as Keyboard repeat delay. After typing the first two characters, the following characters appear at a fairly rapid rate. This is the Keyboard repeat rate. The good news is that you can check both speeds right from your PC without the help of any of the external applications.
STEP 1 - print Win + R keys together to open the file run the dialog box. Once open, type control keyboard and press the Enter key.
STEP 2 - A new window called Keyboard properties opens. Under the Speed tab, look for a speed slider next to its name Repeat the delay. If you drag the cursor to Long, there will be a long delay between the first and second characters when you hold down a key to type something.
STEP 3 - You can drag the cursor to Short, if you apparently don't want the delay between the first and second characters when you keep pressing a key. You can also go for the other two speed levels in the middle so as not to touch the extreme speeds, but to have moderate speeds.
STEP 4 - As below, locate the speed slider corresponding to the file Repetition rate option. If you set this slider to Slow, the character repetition rate would decrease significantly.
STEP 5 - If you want the following characters to be typed fast enough, you can set the cursor to Presto. Again, you can always opt for moderate speed levels in between Slow Y Presto if you don't want the limbs of speed.
STEP 6 - There will be a text box with the caption Click here and hold a key to test the repeat rate just below the Repetition rate speed slider where you can test the changes you just made. If you think everything is ready, press the button To apply Y ok buttons and voila.
