Doesn't it sound good if your PC can close windows or open a particular program or send an email at the specified time and time? Imagine, what if you wake up every day to devotional music voice with no hassle searching and clicking to play the music? Event Agenda is an application in Windows 10 that allows users to preset the task to be performed on a regular basis based on their preferences of time, day, date and much more.
This hands-on tutorial will walk you through creating advanced tasks in Task Scheduler. Here we will understand the creation of the advanced activity with an example to “play music at our preferred time”.
Create advanced tasks in Windows 10
Step 1. Search for Event Agenda in the search box and click to open it.
Step 2. Click on 'Action' in the horizontal menu at the top and then click "Create activity" option.
A Create Task dialog will appear, where 'General' tab, you need to configure the name, descriptions and security option of the task.
Step 3. Mention the name and description (optional) you have to make a homework schedule.
In this tutorial, we take an example of creating an activity to “play motivational songs on the first three Fridays of each month at 6 am.
4 Phase. Now change user or keep the same account for everything you need to create and run the task for.
Select if you want the activity runs regardless of whether the user is logged in or not. Check 'Run with the highest privileges option, if you are creating a task for an administrative account and log in as a user account while the task is running.
Step 5. Check the 'hidden away' box, if you want to hide the activity when it is in progress.
Step 6. Now click on the file “Trigger” tab at the top and then click 'New' to configure the time, day and date of the start of the activity. You can also set advanced options in the Trigger settings.
Step 7. Select when you want start homework. You have options like
- In the schedule: You can set the time and date of the activity, as well as the duration of the activity, for example once, daily, weekly or monthly.
- On logon: Mention the username for which the task will be logged in.
- At startup: no additional settings required.
- Inactive: Condition changes must be made directly to create task configurations
- About creating / modifying the task: no additional settings are needed.
- When connecting / disconnecting from the user session: mention the username
- On locking / unlocking the workstation: just mention your username and computer connection.
But for each activity, the additional settings remain the same. According to our example we will select 'In the program' option.
Step 8. Also, select the file Date and time according to your preference. Also, select on which basis you want to run the task.
Here we have configured the task to run in a file monthly and then the option is displayed for months and days. If you select Weekly, you will be asked how many days to repeat and which day you want to set
Step 9. A Advanced Settings, Check the box if you want "delay homework ' from the preset time period. Then select if you want 'repeat each activity' And this is "For a duration of" from the list of time periods.
You can also check the box for 'stop the activity if it lasts longer than' option and select the time period. In addition, you can also set the due date and time for the scheduled task.
After mentioning the times according to your preferences, click 'OKAY'.
Step 10. Toccata 'Action' panel and then click 'New' to add a new action to the activity.
Step 11. Select an action from the drop-down menu. Here we have selected "Start a program" then in the programs tab, find the program and click ‘OK’.
If you choose to send an email, you will enter the details of the source and destination, as well as the subject and text to be sent.
You can see the list of actions in the action box. Here you can rearrange the actions by tapping the action first and then the up and down arrow on the right side of the box. You can also edit or delete the flavors if you wish.
Step 13. Next is the 'Conditions tab. Here Check the box if you want to start the business under the conditions mentioned.
- Start the task only if the computer is inactive for: The task will start running if it is inactive for or more than the set time.
- You can check this box if you want to: Start the task only if AC power is on, if the preferred network is available, or stop it when the battery is on, or wake the computer to perform this task.
Step 14. Now touch 'Setting' tab and you can check the box yes,
- You want to allow the task to run on demand only, regardless of any triggers or conditions you set.
- You want to run the task as soon as possible if you lose the specified time.
- You want to restart it from the preset time period.
- You want to stop the task if it runs for a long time.
- You want to force the activity to stop if it doesn't stop normally.
- You want to delete the activity after your preferred time.
If the task is already running, any of the four preset rules can be applied.
When all settings are done, check each step once and click "OK"
