Create a desktop shortcut
- Launch the Start menu and go to the application you want to have a desktop shortcut to. Here I am creating a link for the mail application.
- Now drag and drop the application into the desktop area to create the shortcut.
- That is. You now have the desktop shortcut for the application.
Create a keyboard shortcut
- You have completed the first task of creating a desktop shortcut. Before dragging the application to the desktop area, make sure you can see the desktop.
- Right-click on the desktop shortcut and tap Properties.
- In the newly opened Properties window, I have to Shortcut tab.
- Select the field next to Hotkey. Now press any key you wish to use to launch the application. Windows automatically adds a Cntrl + Alt prefix to the hotkey. Here I pressed M but Windows changed it to Cntrl + Alt + M. After pressing the desired key, tap Request button.
- Now try the keyboard shortcut you just created to open the application. When I pressed Cntrl + Alt + M, the mail application starts.
