Bugs and errors are an integral part of working with any system, and Windows 10 is one of those platforms that generates errors quite randomly. One of those annoying errors is the ERROR_EA_FILE_CORRUPT error message in Windows 10 that occurs due to file corruption.
The error comes with the message "The extended attributes file on the mounted file system is damaged". Fortunately, however, there is a workaround for this error. Let's see how to fix it.
Solution: Using CHKDSK
Step 1: Go to Home at the desk and type Symbol of the system in the search field. Right-click on the result and select Run as administrator Open Symbol of the system in administrator mode.
Step 2: Now type the following command and hit Log in to perform the Chkdsk utility with /F switch on:
chkdsk C: /r /f
* Note - Here we are running the file Chkdsk useful for C Drive. You can replace it with the unit you want to pay for.
The purpose of running the Chdsk utility is to verify the repairs and fix them accordingly. When used without parameters such as / f, / r, / x or / b, it does not correct errors and only shows the status of the volume.
What does the / f option do?
The / f switch is used to correct any errors on the disk. To verify, the disk must be locked.
If CHKDSK is unable to lock the drive, a message is displayed saying: "Chkdsk cannot be run because the volume is being used by another process. Schedule verification of this volume at the next system restart? (Y / N)"
That's all. Now you can restart your PC and the error should go away.
