
A very annoying error reported by delayed users is the error code 0x80070057 in Windows 10. This error appears when you try to install the Windows update on your device. The error can occur due to corrupted files or settings on the system or malware that can be managed or modified using the registry.
As scary as it sounds, it can be fixed quite easily. Wondering how? Please follow the methods below to solve the problem.
Method 1: using the services
Step 1: Click on Home at the desk and type Services in the search field. Now, double click on the result to open the file Services window.
Step 2: A Services window, on the right side of the pane, find Windows update. Now, right click on it and select Property give the menu answer.
Step 3: A Windows Update Properties window, go to Start type section, set the field to Automatic. Click on To apply and so ok.
4 phase: Now if the Windows update the service is not running, click Home on the left side of the screen. If it is already running, click Restart.
Now restart your PC. This should fix the problem, otherwise try the second method.
Method 2: run the troubleshooter
Step 1: Click on Home button up your desk and type Solve problems in the search field. Double-click the result to open the file settings window.
Step 2: A settings window, on the right side of the screen, scroll down. Under the Start section, select Windows update. Click on Run the troubleshooter button.
Step 3: Wait for the troubleshooter to finish diagnosing the problem and once done, press Apply this fix option. Now, wait for the troubleshooter to fix Windows update.
Once the repair is done, close the troubleshooter and restart your PC. This should fix the problem. But, if the problem persists, try the third method.
Method 3: using the recovery options
Step 1: Click on Home at the desk and type Restore options in the search field. Double-click the result to open the file settings window.
Step 2: Now in settings window, on the right side, go to Advanced home section and click Restart now button.
Step 3: Now, when your PC restarts, you will need to follow the steps one by one:
- Click on Advanced options
- Click on Startup Settings
- Then press the number key 4 on the keyboard.
4 phase: Windows will restart in Safe mode. press the Windows key + E to open the file Browser on file. Now click What PC link on the left. On the right side, click C To drive.
Step 5: Then go to the following path from File Explorer.
C: WindowsSoftwareDistribution
Step 6: Now select all the files and folders in the file software distribution folder and press the To remove button on the keyboard.
Now you can easily install Windows Update. If the error persists, try the fourth method.
Method 4: Using Command Prompt
Step 1: Click on Home at the desk and type cmd in the search field. Now, right click on the result and select Run as administrator Open Symbol of the system in administrator mode.
Step 2: A Symbol of the system window, execute the following commands one by one and keep pressing Log in after each command:
SC config wuauserv start = auto
SC config bits start = auto
SC config cryptsvc start = auto
SC config trustedinstaller start = auto
Once done, log out Symbol of the system and restart your PC for the changes to take effect.
Now the error should disappear and you can proceed with installing Windows Update.
