You don't need to be a geek to turn an image into a pencil drawing. With the free GIMP tool, you can easily convert any image into a pencil drawing. That's how.
First of all, download and install GIMP, the most powerful free image editor on the planet.
Now follow these simple steps.
Step 1 - Open GIMP and click on File -> Open to import the image into the tool.
Step 2 - Press CTRL + L to open the layers window on the right.
Alternatively, you can click Windows -> Dockable Dialogs -> Levels.
3 pass - Now, create two more duplicate layers by clicking on the icon as shown twice.
Phase 4 - Click the first layer to select it, then click Colors -> Hue Saturation.
5 pass - Then drag the saturation slider to -100 as shown and press OK.
6 pass - Then select the first layer again and change the mode from normal to saturation from the drop down menu.
7 pass - Now, click and select the second layer.
and then change its mode to Dodge.
8 pass - Now choose Colors -> Invert
9 pass - Now go to Filters -> Blur -> Gaussian Blur.
and choose the radius at the desired level.
Tip: - The resolution of my photo was 327 * 230 and I chose 10 as the blur radius in the horizontal and vertical fields. You can choose the desired blur effect based on its resolution.
You can choose different blur rays like 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and so on and see which one creates the best result in that step. To undo the effect, simply press ctrl + ze then choose another blur radius by going to Filters -> Blur -> Gaussian Blur
10 pass - Now, click and select the third image, then go to color -> layers.
Now drag the middle and the last triangle shaped slider to different positions and see which one gives the best result of your pencil sketch.
When you are satisfied press ok. Now, export the resulting file by going to File -> Export As.
Here you are! You are ready. You just created a pencil drawing image of your image. So, this is how you easily converted your image into a pencil drawing image.
