While Google Drive has an excellent search built into the site, did you know there's a quicker, easier way to perform a drive search right from Chrome's address bar (omnibox). Its creation is child's play, and its use is even easier.

Step One: Create a Custom Search Engine for Google Drive




First, you need to create a custom search engine for Google Drive search. Click the three dots in the upper right corner of the Chrome window, then click "Settings".

Scroll down to the "Search" section, then click the "Manage Search Engines" button.

Scroll down to the bottom of the "search engines" list, where you will see three empty text boxes. The first box (on the left) is the name of the search engine. Just type "Drive" or whatever you want to call it.

The second box is for the link you type in the omnibox to search. You can use whatever you like here, but for simplicity we're going with "unity".

Finally, in the third box, enter the following text:

At the end of the configuration of the search engine, just click on "Finish".


Step Two: Search

Now, all you have to do is type search Drive , followed by whatever search terms you want. For example, if you want to search Google Drive for the word "test", you must enter the following in the Chrome bar and then press Enter:
