How to take ownership of files in Windows 10
Step 1] Launch File Explorer by pressing windows e me at the same time. Navigate to the folder for which you need full access and ownership.
Step 2] Right-click the file / folder and select property.
Step 3] Change to safety tab in the properties and click Advanced button.
Step 4] Now a new folder security settings window will open, showing which user has access to this folder and what they can do with it. At the top you will find the user who owns that folder, click the Change link next to it.
Step 5] Enter your username in the text box titled Enter the name of the object to select then click OK.
Step 6] If you also want to access the subfolder of this folder, check the box under the owner name (eg Replace owner in subcontainers and objects). Click OK.
This process will transfer ownership to your user. But we still have to give the user full access to the folder.
Step 7] Once again, click Advanced button on the security tab of the folder property.
Step 8] Click Inserisci in the advanced security settings of the folder window. It will open a file entry permit window.
Step 9] Click add a principal.
Step 10] Enter your username in the text box and click OK.
Step 11] Check the file total control option and then click OK.
Step 12] Verify Replace all child permissions if you want to access the subfolders as well, click OK.
