
How to use the Microsoft Edge built-in dictionary. Edge's built-in dictionary lets you highlight a word and view the definition online without having to leave the current page.
How to use the Microsoft Edge built-in dictionary
The first thing to do is open Edge and make sure the dictionary is enabled by going in Settings> General and activating the option "Search inline definitions for".
In these examples we will use Reading mode, but the other options should work the same way.
Next, click on the book icon, located at the far right of the address bar (or press Ctrl + Shift + R).
Highlight a word by double clicking on it e a definition is displayed in a small window.
From here, you can click the speaker icon to hear how the word is pronounced or click “More” to view more information, such as different uses of the word, examples, a full list of synonyms, and the word's origins.
