Killzone for PSVR2 unveiled at the new State of Play in June?

Author and references

According to the sources of the popular YouTube channel PSVR without Parole, a new game belonging to the series Killzone would be in development at Supermassive Games and could be launched on PSVR2.

We know that The Quarry developer anticipated further projects with Sony as early as 2018, stating that he was working on "several unannounced PlayStation exclusives". One of these, presumably, it could be Killzone VR.

PSVR without Parole says the title was originally slated for Sony and PlayStation's first VR headset but the company wasn't happy with the project's progress., thus deciding to restart development. The hypothesis is therefore that the development could have passed to the PlayStation VR2, also given that the sales of the company's original virtual reality headset they started to slow down. If true, it's possible that the title will be announced during next week's State of Play.

As recently announced, in fact, Sony will hold a wind event dedicated to the PlayStation VR2 on June 2, 2022 at 23:59 Spanish local time, after having already shown the device in a more concrete way after its appearance at GDC 2022.

As for the possible launch window of the viewer, reporter Jeff Grubb thinks it is likely that it can be launched during the holiday season o a few weeks later, and this last launch window would be in line with previous reports that see the device launched in first quarter of 2023.

Of course, what we have read so far is all the result of rumors and indiscretions, and therefore we encourage you to take this information with a grain of salt. In the field of assumptions, however, a Killzone VR would make sense with a view to wanting to launch the new virtual reality viewer in the best possible way. We will surely know more next week during the new State of Play.
