The mouse scroll buttons help you scroll up and down on your computer. If mouse scrolling doesn't work, don't worry. Solutions are available to solve the problem. Just try this fix on your computer and your problem will be solved in no time. But before moving on, you should try these workarounds to fix your problem with minimal effort.
Initial workarounds-
1. Disconnect the mouse from the computer, wait a moment, and then reconnect it. Check if the scroll button is working or not.
If it still doesn't work, you should check by plugging the mouse into another port on your computer.
2. You need to check whether the scroll button actually works or not by simply plugging it into another computer.
3. Restart your computer. If there is a damaged file causing the problem, it will be fixed during a fresh restart.
If any of the workarounds didn't work for you, choose these simple solutions:
Fix-1 Update Mouse Driver-
1. Press Tasto Windows + R open Run. Now type "devmgmt.msc“And press enter. Device Manager will open the utility.
2. Now, click on the button "Mouse and other pointing devices“To expand it and right click the mouse device you are currently using. Now. click on "Update Driver".
3. You will be asked "How do you want to search for drivers?". Just hit enter to choose the option "Automatically searches for updated driver software".
Wait while Windows searches for the compatible driver for your mouse, downloads and installs it.
Now, if you see a message that says "The best drivers for your device are already installed.", Then click"Check for updated drivers on Windows Update". You will have your driver installed along with Windows update.
5. Press "Alt + F4'to close the Device Manger window.
Restart your computer.
You shouldn't face any problems with the scroll button again.
Fix-2 Perform a clean boot-
1. Press Tasto Windows + R run Running. Gender "msconfig"And click"ok". System Configuration will open.
2. Click on 'General“Card and then deselect the box next to "Load startup items". Make sure that the "Load System Services"IS checked.
3. Click the "Services"Form. Then check "Hide all Microsoft services"And then click"Disable everything". Now, click on "To apply"And"ok".
4. Restart your computer, it will boot in clean mode. Check if the error is still occurring or not.
Fix-4 Uninstall and reinstall mouse driver-
Follow these steps to uninstall the mouse driver-
1. Press Tasto Windows + R open Run. Now type "devmgmt.msc“And press enter. Device Manager will open the utility.
2. In the Device Manager utility window, look for the "Mouse and other pointing devices“And click on it and it will expand to show the available drivers. Right click with the mouse you are using, click on "Uninstall device". This will uninstall the driver.
In the next steps we will install the mouse driver still-
Method 1-
Appena restart your computer and Windows will install the uninstalled driver. The mouse driver will work correctly again.
2 method-
If restarting your computer did not install the driver, you need to install the driver yourself. Follow to install the driver manually-
1. In the Device Manager window, click "Action". Click again on "Look for hardware changes".
2. This will find the file uninstalled the driver e install the driver again.

Fix-4 Start HID service-
1.Press Tasto Windows + R run Run and then press "services.msc“And press enter.
2. In the list of services, find the "Human interface device service"And double click on it.
3. In the Human Interface Device Service Properties, check if the "Startup State" is set as "Running"(Otherwise click the button"Home“To start the service). Now, click on the drop-down menu next to "Startup Type:"And click"Automatic"And click"To apply"And then click"ok".
Now close the File Services window.
Restart the computer and after restarting the mouse scroll button should work correctly.
If the scroll button still doesn't work, move on to the next fix.
Fix-5 Change Mouse Properties-
1. Press Tasto Windows + R run Run and type "main.cpl“And press enter. The mouse properties window will open.
2. Go to “Wheel"Tab and under Vertical Scrolling section, set the option"The following number of lines at a time:" for "5". Now, click on "To apply"And"ok“To save the changes.
Now, if you are using a touch pad as a mouse, go to the touch pad settings and change these following settings:
6. Click on 'default”Option. This will restore the mouse settings to their original settings.
7. Now go to "Hand Gestures"Tab and then select these two options"Inertial scrolling"And"Reverse scroll direction". Now, click on "Save“To save the changes.
Now, restart your computer.
Mouse scrolling should work correctly again.
Fix-6 Update your Windows-
1. Press Tasto Windows + I open settings on your computer. Click on "Update and security”Settings.
2. In the right pane, click "Check for updates".
(Or you will see that some updates are already being downloaded)
3. Windows will check for updates, then download the updates and allow you to choose a time to restart your computer to complete the update process.
Wait for the entire update process to complete.
After restarting, the mouse scrolling issue should be resolved.
Fix- 7 Uninstall and Reinstall Touchpad Software (Synaptics) -
1. Press Tasto Windows + R run Run and type "appwiz.cpl“And press enter.
2. Now, in the window, scroll down to find the touch pad application and double click on it and initiate the uninstall process.
(Example: for our computer, the application is "Touchpad Dell"And the publisher is"Synaptics Incorporated")
Wait a few moments for the uninstallation process to complete.
3. After uninstalling the driver, visit the touchpad manufacturer's website and download the latest available touchpad driver.
4. Install the latest touchpad driver and after installing the driver, restart your computer.
You shouldn't face any further problems with mouse scrolling.
