Sony has finally released new details regarding the new one Playstation vr 2 during the conference held at CES 2022 of Las Vegas. The first information is certainly the name, which is inherited from its predecessor as in perfect style of the company. But not only that, given that the technical specifications have also been revealed.
Il PlayStation VR 2 will support 4K HDR resolution, will in no way need external cameras for tracking and, above all, it will connect to the PS5 via one and only one cable. In addition to this, the viewer will be equipped with a 110-degree field of view, support for foveated rendering technology that will lighten the weight of the titles by loading only the foreground elements at maximum resolution. The resolution, to go into more detail, will 2000 × 2040 and the frame rate will be around 90/120 Hz depending on the game. Inside-out tracking will allow the viewer to locate the user and the controller through four integrated chambers, which will therefore eliminate the need for an external camera like PlayStation Eye.
The news, however, does not end there, given that PlayStation VR 2 will support l’eye tacking, a technology capable of detecting eye movements. This will also bring a new way to enjoy the games, which will now also take advantage of a higher emotional response and an enhanced expression, so as to provide new levels of realism.
Furthermore, the viewer will also have an internal vibration and an integrated microphone. Last but not least, in support of all this there will also be the new controller PlayStation VR 2 Sense, which features features similar to DualSense for PS5 such as haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.
Unfortunately, during the presentation of the PlayStation VR 2 at CES, it was not provided no release date, and we believe it won't be revealed anytime soon. Obviously, more details will be released in the course of 2022, but we certainly do not believe those rumors that see the viewer coming out in stores by the end of this year.
